Summary: Small collection of photostats and typescript copies of early Spanish manuscripts relating to missions and travels in the Sonora, Mexico area in 1772, other matters from 1784 to 1792, and a research list of significant visitors to San Xavier Mission from 1827 to 1912 based on published sources. Includes "Reyes Report of 1772 : A Report on the Existing Conditions in the Missions of Sonora Administered by the Fathers of the Propagation of the Faith College of the Holy Cross in Queretaro, Mexico," "Reye's Report of 1784," "Expediente of Reyes-Barbastro Dispute" regarding the beginning and ending custody of San Carlos, correspondence to 1792 which includes Barbastro Memorial for San Xavier and Tucson See, and a letter of Feb. 24, 1792 advising of the King's dissolution of custody. The research list of visitor's to San Xavier Mission includes excerpts from published comments by the visitor's taken from diaries and other sources.

Biographical note: Byron Ivancovich, a Tucson businessman and philanthropist, supported research and restoration of the San Xavier Mission and other missions of the Southwest. Antonio de los Reyes, author of the reports, was a Franciscan priest and the first Bishop of Sonora.
